Top country officials and ordinary Nigerians are mourning the demise of Chief Hannah Idowu Dideolu Awolowo.
The sad news broke yesterday, September 19, that the prominent matriarch of the Awolowo family died at the age of 99.
President Muhammadu Buhari commiserated with Vice President Osinbajo, whose wife, Dolapo, is a grand-daughter of the departed matriarch.
The country leader expressed confidence that Chief Awolowo would always be honoured “for the indelible legacy of very significant, behind-the-scene contributions to communal, state, regional and national development which she has left behind.”
Aisha Buhari, the president’s wife, also mourned the death of the respected Nigerian.
She passed her condolences while paying a special visit to Mrs Osinbajo.
